COOPERATIVE CARE

Build Trust, Ease Fear: Cooperative Care for Scared & Aggressive Dogs

Is a trip to the veterinarian or groomer a source of intense anxiety—or even aggression—for your dog? Does handling your dog for everyday tasks like nail trims, pills, or ear cleaning feel like a battle at home? You’re not alone, and we can help!

This 6-week Cooperative Care class is specifically designed for dogs who are scared, anxious, or even snappish when it comes to being handled, examined, or groomed.

What is Cooperative Care?

Cooperative Care isn’t about forcing your dog to tolerate handling; it’s about giving them a voice and a choice! We’ll teach you how to use positive, fear-free methods to:

  • Build a strong foundation of trust between you and your dog.
  • Teach your dog a “Start/Stop” signal (like the chin rest or a specific mat position) so they can communicate when they are ready to participate and when they need a break.
  • Systematically and positively introduce your dog to handling for common procedures like muzzle training, blood draws, injections, brushing, and more.

Class Details

  • Duration: 6 weekly sessions
  • Goal: Transform fear, stress, and aggression into calm, willing participation.
  • Outcome: Leave the class with practical skills, a training plan, and a much happier, more relaxed dog who is an active partner in their own care.

Stop fighting the fear and start cooperating! Enroll today to begin your journey toward stress-free vet visits and grooming sessions.

THERAPY DOG

(Note, therapy dogs are NOT service dogs. Service dogs are specifically task-trained to assist a disabled person. They have the right of Public Access; therapy dogs do not )

Therapy Dogs visit seniors, visit hospitals, help kids learn to read, and more.  To participate in class dogs should be confident, social and non-aggressive to dogs and people. Preferably your dog will already have achieved his Canine Good Citizen certification.
In class we will learn the control, greeting and handling behaviors appropriate to a therapy dog. We will also work on the dog being comfortable around equipment, such as a walker or wheelchair, seen in a therapeutic setting.
